The Best/Worst Movie Remakes Blogfest

So I totally forgot that I signed up for this blogfest - hosted by Ninja Alex, Stephen Tremp, Father Dragon Al and Livia Peterson. But that's cool, because this post will be really simple, and it won't require me to use my brain. Phew - that's good, because my brain is fried...

Best Movie Remake!

I think the one that springs to mind is Peter Jackson's King Kong. Although it has a bit too much of the cheesies going on, the effects in all of the Kong scenes are brilliant, and I love how they gave that giant ape some human shortcomings.

Worst Movie Remake!

It has to be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I'm sorry, but even though I love Johnny Depp, he just couldn't top Gene Wilder in this role. I found this remake WAY too much. I normally love over the top-ness, but this was just ridiculously silly. And not true to the book. 'Nuff said.

Princess Plea

Somebody please, please help!! I'm supposed to post the linky list with all of the participants, but it's Friday, I've just finished work for the week, and my brain is currently a squishy mass of gloop. Can somebody tell me how to add the linky list? Thanks!

And thanks to Ninja Alex, Stephen, Dragon Al and Livia for hosting this fun and simple blogfest!

I have to agree on your worst...for me, there's only -one- Willy Wonka and, as much as I like Johnny Depp in a lot of his films, he misses the mark on this one.

    Great picks :)

    1. *waves back* Yes, he totally made Wonka seem far too creepy. Such a shame! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Yes, the ape in the King Kong remake almost made me cry, you could just feel his loneliness.

Wish I could help with the techie stuff, but I needed a friend to touch up own blog just to make the links work. I have severe computer limitations.

    1. Hi Helena! You are like me - I have severe computer limitations most of the time... so not good! Thanks for the comment. :D

  3. You have links to the co-hosts - that works!
I really liked Jackson's King Kong. Thought it was the best of the three movies.
Thanks for participating in our blogfest.

  8. I also had Willy Wonka as the worst. As for the linky list, there should be code for you to include somewhere. I know, not very helpful. Sorry.

    1. Hahahaha... this is too, too funny! So glad that I'm not the only person who found this movie to be terrible. And no sweat on the 'not helping' - thanks anyway, and luckily Mr Ninja said it was fine with just the co-host links. *wipes brow*. Thanks for reading!

  9. You hit on one of my newest peeves. I have no idea why movie makers feel the need to ruin a perfectly good movie by re-making it.. If they can't come up with an original idea why not re-do a bad movie that has some potential but just wasn't done right the first time? Oh and Gene Wilder=Willy Wonka for me too.

  10. I have a vague recollection of seeing Willy Wonka (the Depp version). Maybe I even saw it at the movies? I dunno. If I did it clearly didn't stick with me ;)

  11. One of the worst, I think, is The Last of the Mohicans, which is a decent film (though sometimes Daniel Day-Lewis's attempts at bedroom eyes are pretty funny), but which has utterly nothing to do with the book. I mean, it's a slog of a read, but if they were going to disregard the source material like that, why even bother?

Also, there's an internet meme going around, a major award if you will, and I've nominated you for it. Congratulations?
